What I’m Loving: Embellished Bags

I have a confession, I’ve always loved embellished bags. Whether it’s jewels, embroidery, bedazzlement or pearls, I’ve always felt an embellished bag adds a certain statement to outfits. It’s like showing a bit of your personality and making your outfit unique to you. Having always lusted after them (and owning a few more affordable versions), I have recently become a little bit obsessed with window-shopping for the perfect embellished bag to compliment my winter wardrobe.

In contrast to my summer wardrobe, my winter wardrobe is made up of more classic, monotone pieces. Now we’re moving into the colder temperatures here in England, I often stick to jeans, black over-the-knee boots, and a coloured knit. In my opinion, this makes the perfect blank canvas for the addition of an embellished bag.

I’ve rounded up a few of my picks from my hunt below. My favourite is definitely the Jimmy Choo at the moment.

I wanted to start off with these two bags as they were my favourites from my lust list. Both mini-sized bags, the embellishment seems all that more detailed because of the size. The velvet texture of the Jimmy Choo Lockett Petite Embellished Velvet Bag compliments the studded detail, with the gold and silver also setting off the navy tone of the bag. The Fendi Double Baguette Micro Appliquéd Bag sticks to the more traditional smooth leather, but the ‘Flowerland’ embellishments and pink crystals add such intricate detail and a real pop of colour and texture to the burgundy base.

Another two mini sized bags (although maybe not as mini as the first two bags), these two have more spring/autumn transitional qualities. The Valentino Lock Embellished Medium Bag has more detailed embroidery and adornment, while in comparison, the Gucci Mini Embellished Padlock Bag has more minimalistic pearl detail. These would be perfect as evening bags and for drinks at the weekend.

These two bags are both an embellished twist on a more classic and practical bag. I love the studded detail on the nude Christain Louboutin Spiked Eloise Tote. Some people might think nude is a more spring/summer kind of bag, but I think it can really brighten up a dark-toned winter outfit. Then of course it can transition into the spring months of April and May nicely. In contrast, the Saint Laurent Crystal-Embellished Sac De Jour takes the more traditional black winter bag and brightens it up with jewel toned embellishments. Both bags could add be a fun alternative to a work tote.

Sticking to the theme of mini-sized bags, these two are a little bit less expensive than the other bags listed above. I love the colours and detailing on the Sophia Webster Claude Embellished Bag bag. The fun neon edging to the front flap, combined with the bronze flamingos and pom-pom detail make the bag really fun and vibrant. A definite eye-catching statement bag. The Christian Louboutin Triloubi Small Spiked Bag is more classic, but the grey leather with the silver stud detailing give off an edgy vibe which adds a modern twist.
