5 Designer/Luxury Bags That Fit A Laptop

I’ve been loving using my Givenchy Small Antigona recently, but one feature that makes it only 99% perfect for my needs is that it doesn’t fit my 11” MacBook Air or my 13” work MacBook Pro inside. I don’t normally carry either of my laptops around, but on the off-chance I need to take my work laptop home, or if I’m travelling and need my MacBook Air, it would be practical to have the option.

After researching for my next designer bag purchase, I’ve decided I either want to go for a smaller crossbody, or a more practical bag that will comfortably fit my laptop in. And I’ve been struggling recently to find a reasonably priced (i.e. not £3,000) luxury bag that I like that doesn’t look like a tote bag, but still has enough room to fit up to a 13” laptop in. One of the reasons I don’t want a tote-style bag is that I really like having my hands-free, especially when travelling or commuting to work, and with most of my tote bags I find that I’m constantly shoving them back onto my shoulders. So my ideal bag would have a long shoulder strap as well as normal handles. I know this is a bit harder to find on larger bags – most larger versions of popular bags that could fit a laptop in forgo the shoulder strap so the bag doesn’t lose its structure.

I’ve seen bags like the Saint Laurent Sac du Jour and the Chanel Jumbo, but the price point for those, even pre-loved, is out of my range at the moment. I want to find a more reasonably-priced bag that I can potentially find on the pre-loved market for under £800/900, that’s still luxury, great quality, beautiful and that can accommodate all my work and travel essentials in.

Balenciaga Metallic Edge City Bag

14.8” x 9.4” x 5.5”

I love the relaxed style of the bag, and think it could go from a work bag to a weekend bag really easily. The bag is easily big enough to fit a 13” laptop, with a couple of inches either side as a margin. The metallic edge collection is an updated version of the classic city bag, and it’s a bit more of an edgy take on the classic hardware of the original bag style, which I love. I think the grey colour is amazing, and such a great neutral for 2017.

Celine Trapeze Bag (Medium)

12” x 9” x 7”

This bag wouldn’t fit a 13” laptop in the medium size, however the large size (13″ x 10″ x 7.5″) does but loses the shoulder strap in the process. The shoulder strap is quite important to me, so I’ve chosen to go for the medium size for this list. This could be a good option for travelling, as I would only have my 11” laptop with me. I think I love the design of this bag the most out of the 5 bags I’ve listed here, the side ‘wings’ look really sophisticated, and the clean and modern shape and structure of the bag really appeals to me.

Coach Rogue 36 Bag

14 1/4” x 11 1/4” x 6 3/4”

I only discovered the Coach Rogue a few months ago, but I think it could be a great option for a work bag. Coach is a brand that’s been evolving a lot in the last few years, and this bag is a really good example of why. There are loads of different interesting colour options, but I really like this burgundy version to add a bit of colour to a winter outfit. It’s big enough to fit a 13” laptop comfortably, and has multiple compartments which makes it much more practical than some of the other bags on this list.

Prada Saffiano Lux Tote

14 ½” x 10” x 7”

The largest of all the bags on this list, the Saffiano Luxe Tote from Prada is a bit of a classic workwear bag. I see these all the time on my commute to work, and more traditional shape really lends itself to a work environment. It comfortably fits a 13” laptop, and the saffiano leather is very hardworking and doesn’t show wear and tear easily.

Givenchy Antigona (Medium)

13.4” x 11.4” x 7.5″

Substantially bigger than the small version, the medium size can hold up to a 13” laptop. The shape is quite boxy though, and keeps its structure quite well, which can make it quite cumbersome if carrying it with only a small amount of things inside. The base of the bag is relatively big, a normal sized ipad can be laid flat along the bottom, which makes it maybe a bit too big for my needs at the moment.
